After one month, your eyes will be on the path to recovery and sufficiently adjusted so that you can enjoy sports like tennis, soccer, swimming, cricket, and snowboarding.

Here is what patients can expect one month and longer after their laser eye treatment:
Like any surgical procedure, there are always possible side effects. After the surgery, you may experience one or more of these side effects, or you may not feel any at all. Everyone is different. Let’s take a closer look at some of the possible side effects of laser eye surgery:
Halo Effect: Some people experience a mild halo effect or glare around bright lights, especially at night, after receiving laser eye treatment. In most cases, this will significantly decrease within the first month after treatment. After about three months, you should not have any problems with this, but persistent effects can usually be managed with the help of your eye surgeon.

Dry Eyes: Some people experience some dryness in the eyes after laser eye treatment. You will be provided with eye drops to manage any discomfort. Your eyes will return to their pre-surgery condition as they begin to heal.
Temporary Discomfort: It’s common to experience some discomfort in the first few days following the treatment, particularly if you underwent LASEK surgery. This may include symptoms such as light sensitivity and mild irritation, and it is often helpful for patients to wear sunglasses when outside.
At Lasikwelt, our world-renowned surgeons have performed tens of thousands of successful laser eye surgeries. If you have any concerns, we are always available to help and advise.

Many people underestimate the importance of proper aftercare following laser eye surgery. However, it is crucial to recognize that your eyes will be sensitive after the treatment and you must protect them to reduce the risk of complications. To ensure great results from your surgery, it is important to listen to your eye surgeon’s advice.
At Lasikwelt, we offer patients a follow-up appointment the day after the surgery to check their progress, which is a great opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns with their surgeon. After that, you will have routine check-ups over the following year, and you can always contact us if you have further questions. This helps ensure that any problems are identified and addressed as quickly as possible.
This surgery is very successful. About 99% of people who undergo LASIK regain full or nearly full visual acuity, with over 90% achieving 20/20 vision and over 98% being completely satisfied with the procedure. This is largely due to advancements in the lasers used, which can operate based on a careful and comprehensive examination of the eye.
While most side effects – such as blurry vision and dry eyes – will disappear, others, such as glare and halos around lights, may persist. Occasionally, additional surgeries may be required to address these issues or other complications. These may include:

Laser eye surgery corrects the shape of the cornea, offering a potentially permanent solution. However, if you experience a loss of visual acuity due to aging – or if the results do not meet your expectations – an additional treatment may be recommended.
At least six months (usually more) must pass after the initial surgery before additional procedures can be considered. A LASIK enhancement, a treatment that further corrects vision problems using the same method as the original, is an option to consider.
Notably, with each year following the original surgery, the likelihood of a retreatment (LASIK touch up) increases by 1%. Depending on the health and thickness of the cornea – as well as other underlying factors – a second surgery may not always be the best option.
At Lasikwelt, you have a five-year guarantee period for FemtoLASIK enhancements and a ten-year guarantee for SMILE as part of the treatment package.
After recovering from LASIK surgery, most patients can resume their normal routines, work, and behaviors. In almost all cases, lingering side effects such as dry eyes and blurry vision disappear within six months.
Nevertheless, there are several things to remember:
Here at Lasikwelt, we are proud to offer comprehensive aftercare to ensure that we achieve the best possible results for every patient. We also ensure that you see the same eye surgeon from your initial consultation through to treatment and aftercare, so you can be confident that your aftercare is provided by someone who truly understands your needs.
If necessary, laser eye retreatment is provided free of charge at the Lasikwelt Eye Laser Center. This gives patients the opportunity to improve their vision without additional costs. The Lasikwelt Eye Laser Center thus sets a strong example for access to advanced medical treatments.
If you have any further questions or concerns about your recovery, you do not need to wait for your next appointment; simply call us, and we will ensure that you receive the support you need.
